THE WORK WE DO CREATES AN IMPACT

The communities we serve are among the most vulnerable in the country and are home to some of the most dire statistics relating to educational attainment, employment, literacy rates, and attendance rates. We’ve discovered that giving back, making a difference, and coming together to acknowledge success is contagious. Our community does not stop at just good enough.

   - East Side House feeds 5,000 people per week.

   - East Side House places 600 students in college and helps 250 students gain credentials each year.

   - East Side House provides home-delivered meals for 1,000 older adults every day.

Today, our organization is building a commercial-grade Community Teaching Kitchen that will provide the community’s young adults the opportunity to gain skills in culinary arts, warehouse, and inventory management, earn a driver's license, gain work experience, and be placed in jobs in the food and delivery services industry. The food these young people prepare and deliver will go directly to the families in the community who need it the most. Quite literally, these at-risk young adults will be feeding their own community.

What's more, East Side House is constantly innovating. For instance, throughout the pandemic, we remained on the frontlines and, in response to the community's needs, launched a hunger relief program that rescued food from struggling farmers to feed 5,000 people per week and deliver meals for over 900 homebound older adults per day. Simultaneously, we continued to operate safe in-person learning services for thousands of students so that they could stay on track academically, even amidst school closures.
