Margaret and Claud Biddulph, Rodmarton Manor, Gloucestershire
Around 1909, the Biddulphs commissioned the Arts and Crafts architect Ernest Barnsley to design Rodmarton Manor. Some £5,000 a year was to be devoted to the project, the house being intended not only as a country house but also a focal point in the village and a centre for communal activity. In part this activity was directed to furnishing and decorating the house. Work continued throughout the 1920s.
